Did Studebaker ever offer a kit to mount the spare wheel in the rear bumper bar? (aka Continental Kit)

Let's be precise here. The Studebaker dealers would have been free to offer it - I think - IF they cared to. But you wouldn't have seen an official Studebaker endorsement of it and you won't find it in the Accessories booklet as an option.:)

Studebaker did not offer that kit. It was made to fit on Studebakers by an aftermarket company and Studebaker dealers were free to offer it if they cared to. That does not make it a Studebaker authorized accessory.
It is similar to when I sold new cars and we had a wood grain interior kit installed. It was made to fit a Chrysler and it was in the car when it was delivered new, but it was not an authorized Chrysler accessory.
This is the type of thing that should lose authenticity points at an SDC concours.
