Vintage Air has been suggested to Steve for his '51 dream. They have all the parts for the later V8s except the mounting bracket. Does anyone know where a bracket can be located?

Oops! I forgot! The application in my case would be a '62 259(?) V8 mounted in a Lark Regal sedan.

What mounting bracket are you referring to? The kit I bought from them has everything in it( I think, havent mounted it yet). Check out Dave Carters install in a 51 Champion Business coupe converted to V8.

Dave restored that car to BETTER than new! Drove it a few miles and then sold it to concentrate on the '51 - which he still is driving.:D

Dan, I don't blame you. That is the vintage (other than Larks) I like the most. Although that 57 Packard Clipper Town Sedan is awfully nice too. Then again I do like four doors.

Transtar, I contacted Vintage air and they said the mounting bracket for the compressor was not available. In fact, any 259 or 289 (Stude) motor won't have that. They are currently working on a fix and they won't give any details on how long it will be before a new bracket is available. Their advice was to look elsewhere for a bracket, fabricate it, or use another compressor and companion bracket. They assured me that their unit will work with another manufacturer's compressor. Small detail, but I have time to work on it.

I am not sure who you talked to at Vintage Air, there must be some confusion? I talked to them last week and they gave me two part numbers for complete bracket and pulley kits for Stude V8's: 1519SSA (this is right from their most current catalog, you can also down load it as a PDF) is the basic setup, and 151592SSA is for a Stude V8 with power steering and no bottom pulley. They sell it basically 4 ways: with and without the bottom (crank) pulley, with and without power steering. They may have to make them up as ordered, the price is between $195 and change to $250 and change.


Oh this bracket is only for the Sanden compressor, not the YORK! This might be the reason for the problem?

They also have a adapter to use a modern Sanden compressor on the York bracket. The adapters also show up on ebay.

Checked again with Vintage Air today. 4 week delivery on the bracket for Stude V8. Maybe if you order when I do they will do both at the same time and save a bit of time?
