Hi folks,
any recommendation of you which engine oil would be best to use in my '49 Stude with its Sixbanger?

BR,

Shell Rotella diesel oil, 10w 40 (I think).

It's usually 15W40 IIRC. Chevron Delo is very similar. Not sure what is available in Germany but what you're looking for is a "fleet" oil or one that is rated for use in both gasoline and Diesel engines. Reasoning behind this is that the Diesel rated oils generally have a higher level of detergents and anti-wear additives which may not be desirable for a modern engine with a catalytic converter, but can be beneficial for an older engine without a cat.

I've been using Castroll 20W-50 in my '59 Lark VI with very good results.

Shell-Rotella 10-40 or Diesel-all. I've used it exclusively for years in both worn and rebuilt Studebakers.
