View Full Version : Windshield wiper switch?...

I'm rebuilding my '52, and doing a 12 volt conversion as well. I ran into a slight snag. The wiper motor from a '60 Lark fit perfectly, and has 2 speeds. However, I cannot find a rotary switch that will fit in the original spot on the dash. I did find one that is close, but it is slightly too large, and will not clear the reinforcing strut underneath.
The original switch is a "grounding" switch, and thus will not work with motor.
I know I could find any number of switches that I could hang under the dash, but that is a last resort.
Any experience or tips?

The C-cab trucks of the late 50s had a switch of the same fashion as the earlier cars. '55 was the last year the cars had the wiper switch mounted on top of the dash, After that, they were operated by a switch mounted down on the face of the dash.:)

The stock switch in my '55 works perfectly with a '56 (12V) wiper motor, FWIW.

Yes, the two-speed wipers were introduced in '53. So a 53 to 55 switch would suffice too. And should fit OK.:D
