  • Grille Surround for a 63 GT Hawk - Got One?

Looking for a decent grille surround for my 63 GT Hawk. I take it that NOS don't exist and decent or candidates for replating are hard to come by. Mine is pretty badly pitted. Anyway, I'm shopping - what have you? Thanks, HUB (in S.W. Ontario)

If you have the chrome 63 GT export grills, it's a rare item.

He mentioned chrome, they were painted surrounds on US cars.

I think that he means the outer ring of the main grille, not the side grilles, John. The main grille outer section was chrome on all Gran Turismo Hawks that I know of. The chrome versus paint on the side grilles was in 1962, not 1963, AFAIK. John, please correct me if I am incorrect on this. You know more about Gran Turismo Hawks than I do.

Hmm... That's what I thought. Grille surround meaning Grille Shell in actuality.[:I]

My bad, I think it was the 62 Canadian Hawks that had chrome side grills, not 63. He must have been talking about the center.

Hi, sorry if I didn't make myself clear. It's the wide chrome surrounding the mesh of the centre grill. The plating is badly pitted in spots thanks to Canadian winters of the past. Looks nice and shiny at 20 feet but up close it's sad. If I can find another then I'll send the better candidate of the two for restoration and replating while the other will be on the car in the meantime. My '63 should be back on the road in a couple of weeks. The seats are getting a new suit of Phantom Auto Works upholstery. Red with red cloth inserts. New red carpet is ready to go in plus new houndstooth trunk mat and spare tire cover. Fresh ermine white paint went on before Christmas, bumpers have been rechromed, the sun was shining today and I'm getting awfully restless..........

Chrome Grille Shell in good useable condition. Chrome has some inperfections but no serious flaws. Can use as is or is a great candidate for rechrome. $120

Thanks Tim, I'll be following up on this. I hadn't ever seen that website before so I wouldn't have seen this ad if you hadn't been kind enough to tip me off.

Thanks guys, and special thanks to Tim for pointing me to that grille in Tennesse. Deal is done and I should have it tomorrow!
Wouldn't have found this without SDC forum.
