Not a dumb question at all. The only dumb ones are the ones not asked![xx(]

FYI,

I just read an indepth article on six cylinder hop up in my auto restorer magazine. The article was written by Jim Richards who advocates hopping up a six instead of converting to a V-8. The most interesting part is where they talk about OVER carburation. If you haven't done a full hop up you must be careful and not over carb the engine. If you do you will get lumpy acceleration due to the fact when you open up that big carb the vaccum is insufficent to atomize the fuel. If you put a small 2bbl you will be fine. Just don' go out and get a 2bbl off of a Chrysler V-8 since many of them are 500 CFM which is way to large for any stock Stude 6 cylinder. A 2bbl off a slant 6 may work but you really need to work with someone like Bill Cathcart he specializes in Stude sixes. Here is his website: http://www.cathcartsstudebaker.com/

Good luck

I installed a Holly Weber progressive two barrel on my 60 Lark six. Here's a link to a report of it. On dial-up it took me about 40 seconds to download it.

I am quite pleased with the results.
