  • Front drive shaft flange

I replaced the rear oil seal in the tail shaft of a 56 Champ 3 spd with OD. The front drive shaft flange came right out by taping with a hammer. It's a slight press fit and Studebaker states that I should use a J-2204-A Flange Pusher to get it back on the shaft. Now you know I don't have that tool!! Can I just square it up and hit it on with a hammer? Any thoughts/techniques will be appreciated.
    Thanks, Tom

"Flange" doesn't compute. Are we talking the "yoke" that the U-joint couples to? If so, yeah, use a piece of wood or a soft metal drift between the yoke and your hammer when you really whack it. At first, just align it as well and you can and lightly tap it a bit to get it started.

    Miscreant at large.
No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.
