I have a Delco distributor with a window access #1110981. I think this is from a V8 lark or later hawk. I would like to place this in my 61 Hawk 289. Will it physically fit? I have been told the firewall might not allow the distributor to fit. Thanks

It'll slap right in there Harv, and you can still get tune up parts for it all over the place. Just make darned sure that you put the engine at true Top Dead Center (TDC) before you pull the original distributor out, and that you get the Delco right on the number one spot on the cap when you drop it back in. It can be a real PITA getting it set down on the number one position on the cap. Get yourself a loooong, flat blade screwdriver so you can turn the oil pump slot if you need to align it with the blade of the distributor drive.

In fact, if you have a shop manual, (and it's important that you do), I'd recommend that you read over the procedure for removing and replacing distributors carefully before you do it.
