  • Need engine ID clarification help

[8D] I recently bought a 52 Starlight Coupe w/50 nose. Prev owner claims 56 Hawk motor. Located number as P61468...Does anyone know what this works out to be? Any other casting numbers I can go to for reference?
Is there anywhere I can obtain a list of stude ID numbers?

I tried to reply last night, that is a 57 or 58 engine. Engine numbers are listed in the shop manual but I don't have anything for 1958, that's why I can't give you a 100%. "P" denotes a 289 engine, assuming it's all stock. Anyway, that's a partial flow block that originally had a 289 crank in it, that I can say for sure.

Studebaker V8 (and six ) engine numbers are under Tech Tips on the main SDC Page.

      P61468 would be 1958 or early 1959 289.
