Does anyone know where I can get the under the drivers seat extra heater for a 1960 Hawk? I have cleaned the standard system to include the defroster unit but it looks like the units will stay warmer on the passenger side. Or am I off base on this, thanks Harry

This would be a very busy setup if you tried it. But besides that, you'll be PLENTY warm with the stock setup! And it SHOULD HAVE a bit of a diverter over the core that directs the warm air out from under the seat instead of just causing a hot seat![:0]

Unless you plan on driving your Hawk in northern Canada on a regular basis, I think you will be just fine with the lone heater on the passenger side. It was never an issue for me when I drove my '62 through the winter of 69-70 in central Wisconsin. Remember, you can always get a little more heat by running the defroster, it has its own hot water coils.

The one thing that stands out in my 1941 champion is the way the car heats up in the winter. The heater in it is on the driver's side however the heat is evenly distributed in the car because the 41 has a bench seat. Whenever we go on winter trips with the car club folks like to get a ride in the rear of my car with all that cloth it gets very comfortible in there. I have cleaned and put a new hose on the one in my 1961 hawk and from the size of the duct there should not be a problem with getting warm.:)

Thanks for all the information; my Hawk has the two front separate seats (can not describe them as bucket seats). Since I did not drive it with the heater on before taking the car apart to restore it I was curious if the standard heater was enough. Looks like it is. This forum is great with all the knowledge that is on it. Thanks again Harry:)

Hey Tom, is that a hawk in your picture? Are you willing to part with the steering wheel?

Yes .. its a 1960 Hawk, I posted pictures of my visit to it a month
ago. Without a steering wheel it will be hard to move around. I have
someone interested in the whole car at the moment, so I have to wait.

Harry,

I saw a NOS auxiliary heater kit at York. As far as I know, it did not sell, but not positive. Email me off-forum if you are interested and I will give you the name and number of the vendor.

I have one, it can be yours, it even comes with a fan. Brand new, never been on a car. Just cut the hole and install.
