  • Which do you prefer, Ginger or Mary Ann?

Photographed these similarly equipped cars Friday at the South Bend swap meet. First one is a 1963 and the second is a 1964. Which do you prefer? I like them both equally well.

OOOh... toughie there! How does on choose between two beauties[?] You know, if the '64 was a Canadian (single headlamps) I'd say it was the '63 hands down. However it isn't, the '64 has dual... Well... um... I'd still have to go with the '63. A hard choice between two different beauties as the title of this thread suggests.

'Course, I wouldn't have had as much trouble choosing Mary-Ann over Ginger any day.[][}]

I have always liked the '64's over the '63's.

Ahh, FYI clunker, the Canadian Daytonas did not have two headlights, they are all four.

I have to agree with my fellow Australian, Peter Bacich. The '64 Convertibles are super smart. I did have a factory R2 version some years ago.

Really? I'm glad to hear that, though (in my very limited experiance) I've never seen one. That grille setup always looks stupid to me with a single headlamp in it, or just plain cheap. Now, the '66 on the otherhand, looks just super IMNSHO, with singles.

'64--and I have both '63 and '64 hardtops. The '64 looks less dated/more contemporary or what have you, IMHO.

Not a tough choice for me,64. Both are beauties. It was time for a change in design and Studebaker came through with a great front end for 64, Too bad they didn't let the whole year finish before the quit production things could have turned around. And with R3s turning up at the at the drag strip B/S C/S B/SA and C/SA records in NHRA could have been Studebakers had they put a hp rating on the R3.

Having owned both model years, I would offer the opinion that the front clip of the '64 is much better looking, cleaner and less dated than the '63. They did a great job of improving the looks. That said, I think that the rear end of the '63 is much better looking. The '64 tail treatment wasn't nearly as stylish as the front.

I must say that I have been tempted to put a '63 tail end on a '64. Make mine "Ginger Ann"

How's that for straddling the fence on this one?
