Wow! What a gorgeous truck, a modified with all the right stuff..and all from Studebaker. Red suits this just fine, especially that red and chrome engine. Must be fun at shows pointing out the only obvious Chevy part 'needed'. Going to have to come up with a new meaning for the acronym SBC...Seats By Chevy??

Nice truck, I really like the older Stude trucks, more than the Chevy and Fords. If I wasn't needing something to cart around the three kids, I'd look at a truck.

I am guessing that they stretched their 298 c.i. .060 over 289, just a bit! Not to many people are going to have custom made .065 oversize pistons made just so they can have over a full 300 inches! [:0]

The factories also round off displacement numbers so I guess we can too.

Actually I did the math and a 289 with 0.060" over bore is 298.886 cubic inches or 299. The old Bonneville video(on YouTube) with Andy Granatelli breaking records with 168 MPH has the announcer saying the the Studebaker is being powered by a 299 cubic inch V8.

What a well thought out pickup. 55s my favorite.

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments. The 55 was fun building and a blast to drive it. I'll leave you guessing as to what's really in the engine. If you see me at a show, I'll be happy to bore you with a complete album on the rebuild and answer specific question in exponential detail.
Thanks to Champ Trucking for all of his pictures throughout the year.
