  • Spring drive

I took the Commander out for a drive up the Yakima Canyon, near Yakima, Wa. The canyon is one of my favorite places, as there is so much to look at. (I know every foot of this road, as I've run the Canyon Marathon 6 times...[xx(]) Spring is impressive here, because the normally brown hills turn green:

    Way up above the river:

Some railroad action: (This line was originally graded by the Northern Pacific in 1885)

That first shot is as obvious a TW cover as I've ever seen...

You have a great looking car and neiborhood to drive it in.
I haven't taken my Studebaker out yet for it's first spring drive.

Bruce, send the first picture to Art Unger. I am sure it will appear in a Turning Wheels before you know it. Haven't been in Yakima since the mid 60's when I spent a lot of time at the Yakima Firing Range, a sub-post of Ft Lewis. Always like the terrain in the valley and the fish ladders on the Columbia river. Thanks for the memories
