I've been watching this model on the French site for a while. Amazing talent. The body is fiberglass. He even molded the tires. I just wish he had used a Firestone logo instead of the Goodyear. It has to be easier to build a full scale replica.

Same here, I've followed his articles in the Avanti Magazine. I liked his attention to detail on scratchbuilding the brass underpinnings. Good work!!

The drive line is the wrong color, I could have done better.

Just needs a couple of drips under the front of the engine. I used to lose patience with the plastic kits.

              True talent and artistry.

Like the others, I've been amazed by the articles about the model in the AOAI's Avanti magazine.

I'd love to have one, but it would probably cost as much as I paid for my 1/1 example!

BTW: For similar models, check out this website with museum quality non-kit models.

Look at the prices, $14,500 for a P-51.
Sadly, their 1/8 scale Mercer Raceabout is long since sold out.

Awesome detail,I notice some items are a little out on scale. This is not a criticism, just a case of"How do they do it?" It must be very difficult to get it just right, one little out of scale item puts it out of whack. How do they work out the math?just measure the original and divide by the scale ratio?

When I built my stuff in HO, I would do that. I would take the size of the item and convert it to inches and divide by 87. I wasn't too adamant on getting every rivet, grabiron, or railing correct, so I used a fudge factor on some of the more minute, more detailed items, because if I didn't it'd drive me nuts trying to reproduce every single component off of the prototype [)]. It just had to "look the part" so to speak, especially if the audience I was presenting it too wouldn't notice the finer finer details anyhow. If he had some details a little out of scale, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on those reasons of maintaining sanity with scratchbuilding the model, as this was probably a pretty difficult task to begin with.

Plus if the component is a little out of scale, a good story on how the model(or it's prototype) got those out of scale parts can always suffice, I like doing that as well.

All I can say is "WOW!" What incredible detail. If I didn't know it was a model, I'd swear that it was a full size Avanti.
