  • Oil Fill Tube Aluminum or Pot Metal?

Is the main oil fill / breather tube in the center of the motor on my 62 full flow V8 aluminum or die cast pot metal? How about the timing gear cover? I want to know as I may need to modify, (weld), on them.

The timing covers on all '55-'64 V-8's are cast aluminum.

The filler pipe is cast aluminum on '61 and on '62 early, with a filler pipe.

[u]A full-flow</u> (late '62-'64) Engine with the filter on the right rear bottom, has a block-off plate on the filler hole, and yellow valve covers with oil caps. [^]

Some people have a good thing, but just can't leave it alone, can they? Lol!

      Older ones are cast iron.
But I'm guessing you knew that.
