That has to be the best deal we have seen in a while. It's a V-8 to boot.

......maybe...maybe not....If I were touting California, I would've found my way to take a few undercarriage pics....simply because its "been" in CA doesn't make it a "dry" car....It looks good
but I'd want it checked out by a Stude guy for hidden brown stuff.....:)

I may have to do just that tomorrow. I'll let you know. Interior has been reupholstered and they lost the stainless trim strip in the center of the door. Impossible to find that part, but that's all I see that is missing. You can see the original color when the glove box is open; the rest has been sun bleached a bit. What a unique original convertible color. I have never seen one painted that color that is still alive. They usually were the sedans. Very cool. Minor work to get it nice again. [8D]

I am pretty sure I know that car, back in the 1980's, it belonged to the wife of an Automatic Transmission Shop owner, and was in very good condition. As I recall, it had a low gear start Trans. a Truck valve body or a Cruise-O-Matic Trans.

I always thought it was an odd Color (Oasis Green) for a Convertible, but it would look great in 1960 Williamsburg Green! [^]

Another one that got away! :( [V]

I really don't remember if it was West L.A., Santa Monica, Torrance or what, as you know there are dozens of South Bay Cities (Suburbs) around L.A. near where I lived. [^]

He was not an SDC Member, or I would know, I talked to him when he wanted to sell the car, and lost track of it after that. If it is the one, it definitely IS a South Bay Car. [^]
Harbor Fwy. to the Ocean, Santa Monica to Palos Verdes Estates. [^]

Well, of all owner names, it's a familiar one. Not sure we can handle two of them, but...Jim Turner! [:0] ;) It's the west coast version, I guess. They're even cloning those now. [:o)]
If I get a chance I'll give a report.

Just the car for you Kevin! But it would be a setback for your choptop while you move Heaven and Earth to get rid of that color on that car[xx(]

I like that exterior color. But that interior color needs extra thought. I am hoping to see it all tomorrow. It's in Los Feliz, Rich. I had to do the college tour first thing off the plane. Nicer view that what I left in Cleveland...[8D]

I can't use the old excuse, "it's on the wrong coast" today...whaaa.

Okay, lesson learned posting here before looking at a car, but here are some extra pics from today, as I got to see it anyway:

This engine and body were made in South Bend within days of my Lark. Both were shipped to California, so maybe on the same transport? [8D]

I really liked this color on a '60 convertible. The long time owner is an honest, great guy. Oh well. :(

Sorry that you missed out on this one, Dave. We hope that the college tour went well, though. Your daughter will look beautiful in whatever car she ends up in. We'll keep our fingers crossed and our eyes open for you!

Thanks, J&T. Sometimes it pays to be quick, sometimes it doesn't. One never knows.

I like to see them in person first before I make an offer, so can only blame myself. This was a time capsule for authenticity in many respects. The interior looks better in person, matched very well to the original. Carpet was replaced at some point. I thought it was original. looked it.
Many leaks up and down, grease fittings were dry. Needs new top and lift cylinders. This one runs and is an instant driver, but will still need plenty of cash thrown at it.

It fit my daughter perfectly, though! Would have been a cool twin.

The real bargains will generally go to the early birds willing to take the risk. You need to be the first to call, ask a few questions and get a check out if it sounds good. Once a bargain is posted here, the sellers phone starts ringing off the hook.

True enough. The call and email were made early in this case. I just had to see it first. Lack of covert action was the problem. Seeing it and with zero money in his hand yet was a serious hard ball temptation yesterday. I just won't do that because I wouldn't like it done to me.

I agree, I lost a few where the seller had committed to me, than decided to accept cash in hand before we got a chance to get there. BTW, did it go to a forum member in the end ?

Hey Dave, did you ask the owner if the car has one shift or two in Drive? [:0]

That's a bummer, Dave. Must be it just wasn't meant to be, and there's an even better one coming your way!

Didn't drive it, but since it was recently rebuilt, I'm guessing it shifts the way it is supposed to...0 to 60 in 14.7 sec.

Aww, I needed another one like a hole in the head anyway, Bob. I just liked this one and had a plan for it. I don't need a "better one" and really wasn't looking. It just felt right since I was here this week. I would blow way too much on it, so it's cool. I need to finish mine now that I've laid waste to the winter months and still haven't dropped the engine in yet. Waiting on the transmission. :(
