I was stripping the motor on my black 61 hawk and decided to take a break. I have two sets of fender trim spears because I have two 1961 hawks. One set of spears for the green car are longer then the ones for the black car, could I be mistaken? The green cars spears are about an inch longer. I don't have them mixed up. Please look at the pic it shows the set for the black hawk and the one lone spear I have it's match is at the house. It's a inch longer, I am using the fenders from the black car I may have to use the spears also, so it will look correct.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v145/mr1940/IMG_0036.jpg

Looking at an original 59 Hawk front fender spear, the front edge comes within 1/4" of the head light rim. I'd bet your's are far from that. What happens is the door check strap will break and allow the door to open too far and crease that trim strip. Then they get broken off. Hope this helps.
