  • '64 Daytona - Out of Storage 1st Time in 25 Years

I had to get my '64 Daytona hardtop out of storage to allow for some building repairs. This is the first time in 25 years it has moved.[:0]

A good solid car, and a factory 4-speed to boot. It's well down on the list for resto though, so it will go back to sleep tomorrow.

    Here are a few pics:

I like it. Too bad it must remain in suspended animation. [xx(]

Paul, looks good! I don't know if I've ever seen one where the side molding lines up as straight down the side of the car as yours does!

Paint, interior (have a NOS interior for it - seats, door panels, dash, headliner, etc), small amount of rust repair in the rear inner wheelwells.....and the R2 engine and 3.54:1 Model 44 axle installed.

Paul, just clean it up and leave the paint be.

            A sweet looking car. Thanks!

What Jonno said, Paul! Nice car indeed. [8D]BP
We've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

              G. K. Chesterton: This triangle of truisms, of father, mother, and child, cannot be destroyed; it can only destroy those civilizations which disregard it.

Drive it as is and have some fun with it until you can restore it.

Yep, that paint doesn't look any more "tired" than the blue on my Lark, and a simple wax job last August made the old bus look like I'd had it repainted...that and a set of wheelcovers, and this '64 time-machine don't need nothin' else!

For the paint, use TR3 polish. It comes in a chrome can with blue/white writing. Its available at most Auto Parts stores. Use with a buffer at the slowest setting. You will be shocked at how gorgeous it will look.

Wow, what a nice car. Like was said, wash, wax, smile and drive it.

Yes do it! It will definitely outlast the Cherry Jellybean in the car port!
Even with that Chrysler Rt. front wheel!

Very nice, Paul; but it needs a Skytop

Actually Bob, you and I are thinking alike here. Remember the pics I posted about 6 weeks or so ago of the '64 hardtop with the Golde sunroof installed? That sure got me thinking. I have a spare roof section, and a couple of sets of the bows, etc to be able to do that. I figure if it's going to get modified anyway (with the R-series engine) then why not install the Skytop too!?!

BTW, the picture is of the good side, the paint on the other side is not as decent. (Always take pictures of the best side[:0])

                              Paul,
Bill Pressler's comment about your side trim reminded me of that particular '64 in Europe with the Skytop as well. The side trip on it was that one had a real wow in it.
