  • Carter WCFB ?

Any of you guys modifying your WCFBs for blow through, and if so how many psi are you running?

FWIW, Stude never used the WCFB in an OEM blow-through application. However, Paxton sold kits for the Corvette 1x4 and 2x4 WCFBs.

If you are using a Paxton, few will hold more than 5 PSI in the manifold on a modified engine. They can show 7 PSI in the carb hat for short bursts. Beyond this, belt slip becomes a real concern.

You, of course, know a boost-referenced line to the fuel pump is required.

I saw a photo of a WCFB/VS57 combo on a Stude somewhere recently but I suppose that wasn't factory correct...so OEM was a 2-bbl in a box and that's it? I have a project with a VS57 and would like to use a '52-'54 carb (Carter/Stromberg) and my engine (Buick) came with a WCFB, just wondering if anybody here has sealed 'em and replaced the floats etc. and blown 'em. My VS57 was OEM from a Kaiser and only gives 3.5 now but there are guys out there modifying them to run 10+ psi.
      Yeah I know, fuel pressure...

        1. FWIW, the floats don't have to be replaced. I've run a couple back in the bad old days with no mods at all.

        2. Yes, '57-58 2-bbl in a box. '63-63 an AFB with a hat or in a box.

        3.

There are guys out there who play badminton with hand grenades, but don't believe it's anything I'd want to try.
