  • Cop in my yard

I decided to pull the 52 Starliner in the garage today and it started OK even though it's in the 20's, and had been sitting a few months, but it was backfiring like mad until it warmed up. The next thing I knew I had a cop pull up to my garage investigating "shots fired". Once he saw what had happened, he wished me a nice day and left.

    Unlawful discharge of a Studebaker!

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

At least it's reassuring to know that if it HAD been something major, your police are quick to respond![^]

Bess has taken to doing the same thing when starting her. I somehow got cyls 5&6 switched and after correcting it, started her up. KA-POW!! Sounded like a bloody cannon report. The whole valley was talking about the big bang on Sunday. I just squeeked out, embarrased, whenever I heard anyone talking about it. They probably figured it out, as she did it twice more. Now I've got the carb popping largely solved, I've got this problem.[}] Oi vay.[:I][)]

Why is that when shots are really fired people say it's a car back firing, but when a car is back firing they think it's shots fired?

I enjoyed your Stillwater pictures Dave. I think I remember you as the officer that was chasing me down Washington Street towards Theta Pond on Streakers Night circa 1977. I attended Okla State from 1977 to 1980, but mainly attended Georges Stables, Turks and Pistol Patties! Enough memory lane, back to Studes.
