  • timing for 57 silverhawk v8

    i was wanting to know if anyone knows the numbering for the distibutor cap? i am trying to get this old motor runing again but i think it is out of time. also is there a way to prime the oil pump on the stude?

    If you are talking about the firing order it is cast into the intake manifold.Timing should be 4* before TDC.With the needle pointing at TDC the rotor sould point at #1 cyl. wire location on the dist.cap it then rotates counter-clockwise to the next fire which I believe is #8cyl. & so on till it completes the cycle.

            I prime the oil pump by making a tool to spin the pump. A length of bar stock with the end ground to match the pump, or a piece of 3/8 steel fuel line flattened on the end will do. Spin it CCW in your drill, you'll feel it when it primes the system.
