Dick, I think I'm in love with your car. If I were to sleep with it, would that be considered adultery or Avantery? [8D]

Dick,

You can't say that all of us Avanti owners didn't warn you!

I'd take the 4 speed in a heartbeat. It would make it a completely different car. The auto (especially with the second gear start) is a little too "lazy" for me. It makes it more of a "personal luxury car" (:() instead of a sporty car (:D).

Let me know if you want to trade ;)

It is a very nice driving car. This one has all new suspension parts, new springs and shocks, rebuilt PS system, all new brakes and booster. It handles quite nicely. It's comfortable and smooth.

Yours will be VERY special John. This one is about as plain as they came.

I did actually touch it today. Maybe that will inspire me to do some work on it (but got to get the water pump on the GT first).

I like the Powershift in my '64 R-1 Avanti, but I'm lucky enough to have a four-speed R-2 GT Hawk for my high performance fix.

Now having said that, no question an Avanti is a much better driving and handling car than a GT. Easily the most modern of any Studebaker...Russ Farris
