Charlie was here just the other day.
He'd come to look at the '53 Champion coupe I have for sale.
He said it'd been over a decade since he was here last.
One of the first things he mentioned was that Phyllis had gone on.
31 months ago told me that he was still counting.
He was still grieving.
He was still remembering.
Phyllis was his wife of over 50 years.
He'd met Phyllis when he came home from the Service.
She already had a child.
She'd made a "mistake" he said, when she was just 16.
That didn't keep Charlie from falling in love with her.
Charlie is a good man.
A gentle man.
A Studebaker man.
A good provider.
I wonder what went through Phyllis' heart/mind when Charlie
asked her to marry him.
I doubt there was a day that went by that Phyllis didn't
thank God for Charlie.
His story caused me to think.
How many people do we let fall thru the cracks simply
because they too have made mistakes.
Don't we all make mistakes.

PS: Charlie didn't buy the '53, but he left me with a story
I'll always remember.

I agree really good stuff! We often think of flowers, candy and love on Valentine's Day but reminding us to share Grace as its been shared to us is a great thought amongst all the selfishness and ingratitude that is so common these days.

Great story. Fortunately I have been blessed with the ability to appreciate good things and loved ones TODAY, and always have. Hopefully that will be of great comfort when today is gone. Happy Valentine's Day to those (including me) lucky enough to celebrate it![^]
