  • NO room in the garage

The 55 I just bought didn't make it inside four the snow
I guess I was too lazy[:I], and didn't get the 53 sedan out
quick enough. I only have room for two

What is the problem you need more garage space. I can get 7 under roof. But you don't have room to do anything. And a tractor.

Doesn't really look like factory blue paint to me. Just my opinion.

For many people that IS the garage.

I wish that was all the snow we had in Iowa. I have a three foot tall hard packed drift in front of the shop. Level on the ground we have probably 10 inches of that white stuff... at least it is above zero degrees out!

It doesn't matter how much space you have, us Stude guys will always fill it up. I remember walking into my 2200 sq ft pole barn after I had the concrete poured and I thought that I would never fill it. Guess what....between it and the garage they are full and I still have to park outside in those Minnesota winters. How does the saying go for us car guys....build it and we will fill it.

Tex, don't let that bother you a bit. If it was in excellent condition you might be concerned, otherwise it won't be hurt. The Number One danger/enemy to an outside-stored car is water leakage. Those old seals let water leak in, which then collects under the mat or carpet, and goodbye floors. Happens to probably 90 percent of old cars that sit out. That's why we frequently see SW/WC cars that have absolutely no rust anywhere- except the front floors Just a little care would have avoided it. You have already done the most important thing for Winter, which is covered it. If there's any carpet or mat in there, you might take a minute to yank that just in case.

The other bugaboo (Number Two) is letting a car sit on the ground, especially on soft ground (where it seems most outside-stored cars sit[}]). You're just fine there too. Just don't let it sit in one spot for 6 months or more and settle to the ground.

So keep it off the ground and a tarp over it, and be sure to pull the tarp once Summer hits, and you're not hurting it at all![^]

I've got 5 cars in the barn, 2 in the carport, and 3 outside.... Then I have the 4 daily driver family cars, but they're all on the driveway. Way too many right now, thats for sure. At least its down from the 23 I had at one point. That was a nightmare.

Nope, I'm okay with what I have goin' on. If anything~ a car or two will go away- and I'll be even better!!! And that'll be good, 'cuz as I've got it right now- there's only room for four here- and I still have two more stored elsewhere...

But then again~ one is used as a driver, so for now- that one is sorta bummin' [:0]

I'd like to think that this is not a permanant situation, anyway. As much as I hate moving-
I'm hopin' that I can get a shop/house (YES- in THAT order) of my own sometime soon...

Okay, are we talking about our progression thru Garage space?
I built my first 4 cars in open carports. Next came the purchase of my first house. The criteria was a closed garage. Well I got it (20'x22') thought I was in heaven for the next 16 years. Managed to build 3 more cars and kept them all inside.
But hen my big break thru, Rented a 2400 sq ft shop for 9 years. Manage to fill it to the brim during that time. Well 6 years ago I purchase my small farm. Now I have 15,000 square feet of inside space for my cars. But guess what? Have only had this for the past 6 years and the buildings are full, plus my 6,000 sq ft compound.
So, you guys are right! It does not matter how much space we have, us old car nuts will just use it as an excuse to "buy more cars"
                              Garages are never big enough!
