The really did a beautiful job with the greenhouse on this car. It's a shame that they didn't have for for the full three year cycle.
But what I have never been able to figure out is the lost opportunity in the rear. I've always wondered why they never put the tail light in the fin, shaped like the fin. I understand that the tail light is proximate to the location of the 1957, but that little bitty round tail light always looks lost to me, and the back up light really looks lost up there.
The front of the '58 cars never really bothered me. If they had come to me and say fix it, I would have made the head light pod longer and tapered, so it looked more intergrated. But such are the musings of a fantasy designer.
I need to dig it out but some where I have a factory photo of a 1958 two-headlamp Champion that I need to find.

For a company on the brink of extinction, Studebaker did a terrific job designing the hardtops. I'd love to own one, but, alas, there aren't many of them around.
Thanks for posting that photo of a beautiful car.

Thats nice! I too would love to own one (actually, any non parts car '58 for that matter. Mine has the roof crumpled in, where a tree took it out,LOL!!), but space and money is always in the way. Arrgh!!!!

I'm still stuck on the 1958 Impala, but that is a close second.
