Did these engines use a stock camshaft Gary? I was a little surprised that a cam wasn't mentioned as part of the package in the Motor Magazine article.

Wonder how long it took for the engine to quit spinning after the ignition was shut off. That is one thick flywheel.

I don't have info on what cam was used. In my computer modeling of the engine performance, the best grind I have come up with is the same one used in the 245 cu in Commander 6 trucks through 1960. It calculated even better than some hot rod cams for flatheads. I got the blueprints of the original stock cam profile from the Studebaker Museum.

The valves are so close together already that there is no hope for bigger valves. I do have an aluminum head with 6.5:1 compression, like the racing engines.

I weighed the orignal flywheel onthe engine that I will use - it was over 50 lbs. That might want to get replaced with aluminum or at least machined a lot.
