hood handle

in stan gundry's book, a great asset, by the way, he says the hood and trunk handles should be painted the white/cream color of the wheels. i bought a trunk handle way back in '81 from altman as mine was missing, and it is white. however, my hood handle is chrome and i'm pretty certain it is original as i'm the 2nd owner and have had it since '77. have any of you experienced this same thing? thanks, george perry

Not clear what constitutes a "hood handle" or "trunk handle" nor what model we're speaking of.

gundry's book pertains to avantis but i should have been clear on that. the handles i refer to are on the ends of the cables that lead to the release latches, ie: you would grasp the handles and pull to actuate the release mechanisms.
