  • Working on the 66

This week I am on vacation. My job slows way down in late January early February, so I usually take time off and work in the shop. I have been working on the 66 R1 clone. Today, I was sanding on the back panel, and my wife shot these pics. I about jumped out of my skin, as I was really into my work, and had no idea any one was around until the camera flashed.

Sanding off 4 layers of old paint.

And...all that sanding is like meditation.
Kind of like mowing the lawn...

I used aircraft stripper on parts of the car. I had old bondo on the back panel, that I did not want to disturb. The shop is heated. I keep the temp cool, so the coat and overalls get dirty, but not the clothes underneath.

Thanks for the pictures. Pictures are great to look back and see how far you have come. And also tells others the work you put into your project. With my project finally done, its fun to look back at pictures and see where my truck came from and remember all the help I got along the way. Keep us posted!

The shop is 30x50. It is a Morton pole barn. It was originally designed for machinery storage. Farm machinery has out grown these types of buildings, but it makes a nice shop. I have used it for lots of different projects. My job is in retail farm fertilizer, herbcides, and seed. The hours in the planting and harvest season are gruelling, and stress levels are high. This shop and my Studes are my therapy. A month or so in the shop, and I'm ready for the farmers again.
