Interesting car.It says supercharged, but only the Packard Hawk has the blower.I wonder if someone fitted the blower later??? OR could it have been a special order??
It'd be a great find if this is true

I think the supercharger was an option on all 57-58 Packards.A local junkyard near where I grew up had a supercharged 57 wagon.

All '57 Packards we supercharged. In '58, only the Packard Hawks. Not the sedans/wagons/hardtops.

Wow! You must have been a busy fella! OK, OK just pickin' on ya Matt! Our neighbor had a '58 Packard wagon, red & black with a factory supercharger. Trust me, the fella who owned it didn't know a thing about cars, as my Dad helped him with it a number of times. I believe that it was an option on all '58 Packards. Well, you know how Studebaker was anyway, "Ya want it, ya got it!" was their motto, on the option list or not.

That, and any smart teenager from that era could have found and installed a supercharger on Mom's old "grocery gitter". It's a bolt-on deal and what a sleeper after school! [^]

Dealers started coverting the 57's to non-supercharged in late 57 due to the problems the superchargers were having. There were a few of the 58's that came with superchargers, but again only a few. I was told three (excluding the Hawks), but until all factory orders are checked for the 58's, no one will know.

For the record- that '675' number is for hardtops.

There were 1200 Packard sedans built.

I support Matthew. All 1957 Packards had superchargers as standard. Only Golden and Packard Hawks had superchargers standard in 1958. I have never seen any literature that shows the supercharger to be an option on anything but fleet and police cars (pre-1963). I am not saying that the factory did not make an exception build - just that it was not an official option. I would want to see the build sheet for any purported original 1958 (non-Hawk) Packard with a supercharger.

58PackardWagon, my Father passed on a 58 Packard Wagon (with supercharger) for a 55 Pontiac Wagon, this was in 1964/65 time frame.so it would be likely it was done after the fact?
