In 1963 there were 325 R2 larks built (53 with full package)
In 1964 there were 83 R2 'lark types' built (58 with full package)
My uncle once owned a 1964 Cruiser R2 (only 8 '64 cruisers were R2's) he sold the car sometime in the late 70's. I have a 64 Cruiser that I built as a clone of that car.

I've been lucky to own six, but dream of the one my best friend bought as a demo at Freeman Spicer. It was a black, base model, bench seat R2 4 speed Lark. $2900 out the door in Sept 63. With the dog dish caps, black walls, and cheap looking red interior, it could have been mistaken for a fleet car.

Back in 63 right after I got married and wanted a different car the 60 Corvair just didn't sit right with me, so we went looking at the 63 hawks and Larks but just could not make it fit into the budget at the time, but I still wanted out of the Corvair, so off we went to see my wife's shirt tail relative , he was sales manager of the Chevy. dealer ship, 2 hours there and we got rid of the Corvair and drove off the show room floor a 63 Impala super sport, with the 409 and 4 speed, he put us into it cheaper than A "R" series hawk or Lark so what can a 21 year old young guy say ?? drove it for 2 years and put 49,000 miles on it and then traded it in on a 65 4 door sedan, boy-o-boy is hind sight 20-20 or what, sure should have keep that it would have looked nice in my 5 cay garage along with the R-2 64 full package hawk, the 53 super charged custom, the 63 R-2 Avanti, and either the 67 Avanti or the 63 super lark R-1 clone....20-20- boy I wish I had that now, both the 409 and the eye site...Bob
