It was on this day 46 years ago that many South Bend employees worked their last shift for Studebaker. Regular auto production ends.....many lose their jobs......most have no pension......Merry Christmas.[V]

I don't think you were at the meet, Dave, but maybe four years ago, I was at a Friday's nearby with a SNM sweatshirt on. A handsome older gentleman came to my table and said he worked at an NBC affiliate in South Bend when Stude shut down and snuck in and took footage that was shown on Huntley and Brinkley that night. I had always heard that story and here was the guy! I invited him to speak at Ted Hurd's SDC meet and he was a captivating speaker. See, wear those Stude shirts out and about!
