I have a '39 Commander Hearse. The front clip and doors are all stored inside. I don't think I am going to scrap it out, and have now made arrangements for inside storage. I lost my outside storage.
The '38, '39 and '40 Hearse bodies were made by arrangement with Bender Body by Studebaker. They have a distincive look, and on this one, the roof is bumped up higher with sort of a air scoup above the windshield to provide extra air flow to the inside!

Could be a Combination Coach.Maybe some of the Professional Car guys will chime in...

It's a Superior combination. Superior built their vehicles with very long side doors, which this has. The curtains indicate it's a combination, could be used as a hearse or an ambulance. Hearses were not/are not allowed at race tracks, it's considered bad luck. (If your ambulance looks like a hearse, I guess it's OK.)
