  • Priming old pump before starting

I'm getting ready to start my 6 cyl. after it's been sitting a while. I remember something in a previous post about this but can't find it in a search. Isn't there a way to remove the distributor on the Stude 6, insert some kind of rod or screw driver blade, then connect a drill so it will spin the oil pump and prime the engine? How hard is it to reinsert the dist. and get the timing close?

The spin the oil pump trick only works on V8's.

You can unplug the coil wire charge the battery and crank it over in 10 to 15 sec.intervals untill you get some oil presser. just a thought.
