    Probably done years ago when there was such a thing as a kit for the Stude into Willys. At this point I'll bet the seller wishes it did have a sbc, because the market for Stude powered Willys is thin to non-existent.

      Thats cool! Good thing I don't have the $$ and space, I love those rigs, and with a 259, even better! Just got to lose that tow bar in front.

        My brother had a 53 Jeep in 1966. It broke down in the back of our ranch and in spite of his wife's warning he left it there for a week. When he returned to take it home the Jeep was stripped! He was so embarrassed he couldn't tell his wife and secretly rebuilt the Jeep with a Chevy 283 and a Stude overdrive.

              I too love that thing. Like Thomas said these swaps were not all that unusual many years ago. I once saw an old flat fender jeep with a 232 Stude V-8. The 259 would be ideal.

                There was indeed adapters built back in the 50/60's for this swap.
                I dont know if there was a complete "kit" but I have somewhere in my tractor shed a Stude V8 car bellhousing with an adapter to bolt to the Jeep truck/wagon transmission which had a very long input shaft.

                I have seen these on ebay , adapters, engines with adapters, or transmissions with adapters, some in Oregon and other places across the states.

                  A guy that lived about three miles from me used to come into my service station with a Studebaker V8 powered Jeep. The guy's father purchased a 1962 Hawk new.

                    i had a friend with a 57 jeep pickup 4x4 that had a champion six in it. it had a rod knock from hell, but he had been using it like that to push cars around his property for years

                      Yeah, no kit - just an engine adapter. That was a time when rod and custom guys EXPECTED to make or devise some of their own solutions. The Stude 259 was a great choice for the Willys, especially for ranch or outdoors use: the heavy crankshaft and flywheel with nice low speed manners.

                        A while back someone had one of these on eBay that was all fixed up and with a 289 in it. What a GREAT combination!
