The following applies to 47-49 Champions and 49-53 2R trucks. Others?

Needed to replace the parking light socket in my '48 Champion due to rust and shorting out. Got the usual run-around at chain parts house. [Well, what's it fit? '48 Studebaker. Oh. We don't have a listing for that. Yeah, I know. That's why I didn't bother asking. I need to look in your books. It's a #55 bulb with a BA9s base. Oh, we don't list them that way.] You know the routine.[}:)]

Anyway, got to look in a book. The STANDARD Motor Products part # is S20. Plugged that into NAPAs website and got NAPA # LS6492. Exact same part. Although our regional NAPA warehouse didn't have any, I did find one in a retail store. And I got a Standard one from a Car Quest that I'm friendly with. So they're out there. Just getting hard to find.

I drilled two new holes to use the original holes and screws in the bucket and to keep the bulb in the original fore-and-aft position.
Hope this helps.

Did you ever find another bucket like you wanted?

Never mind - I just read the other thread.[B)]
