I won't say they won't work, as I've never made this attempt. But those wheels are at least 7 inches wide which would more likely than not cause rubbing problems with radial tires.

I have never tried the 05's, but I put a set of 01's 245 X 45 X 17's on my Avanti and also my 53K. they fit the rear fine but are close to the spring like 1/4" or less and you can hardly get your fingers between the tire and the fender well on the K. on an Avanti they stick out slightly in the rear so you can not have the rear loaded or hit a big bump. The front is where the trouble is the rim touches the steering arm and you can not make a tight turn since the tire hits the inner fender before the steering stop on the spindle.

you need to find out what the offset is, if it's about 1/2" to 3/4" you might be ok depending on how wide the tires are.

I tried a set of 95 Mustang rims that look like those on my 53. They also would not clear the king pin.
