You have a question mark next to the oil pan. Do you know what it came off of? I'd take the carb with it if it would fit a 259. Mine's pretty dented up.

The oil pan looks identical to the one that came off of the 1955 Commander 259 I stripped this summer. It should be a six quart oil pan and it has the large plug in the bottom of the pan instead of the much smaller one at the rear.

So... you would say it likely came off a very early 259? Would it bolt up to a '62, do you think?

Keeping the interchangeability of this stuff in mind, unless the bolt patterns or something changed over the years, I don't see why not. I modified mine for the 289 with oil ports, so I know I'll find out soon enough how well mine works, lol.

IIRC, the pan that came off my '55 Pres. Cp. has a much longer sump.

Umm...is that an AMC AMX toy in the corner there? I don't want it, but I would like to know...just 'cause.

Oil Pan: YES it has that big drain plug in the bottom of the pan. Question mark is because I did not see the motor it came off of. The dip stick bung is threaded BTW, Jimmy.
Email mee off forum if ya need it.
Model car: Yes it is a AMX. I got a box of them with the car parts. This was in there too:

Sadly all there was were some misc. parts of the kit.' I got a lot of 60s model cars mostly assembled. Not sure what I am going to do with them yet.

The humor is the way I found it was a six quart oilpan, it was marked on the dipstick that it's a six quart oilpan [)]. The other thing is this is how the car was purchased by our buddy from the Beardstown dealership when he purchased it as it was sold used back in the sixties. So apparently Studebaker either supplied this car with an oilpan as original when the first, first owners had it, or the original owners had something go bad on the car in the inital years of owning the car and then had returned the car, had the six quart pan installed, and returned it to the dealership a couple of years later. All I know is what came off of the car when I got ahold of it, is what it left the dealership with when our friend bought it(minus the aftermarket shifter). Once again though, all is not what appears to be when it comes to buying Studebaker cars . But I digress. The oil pan I have has a threaded bung in the base, and the insert for the dipstick rod is threaded as well with a copper washer between dipstick and pan. It also has a baffle in the front, separating the crank from the lower portion of the pan, and a baffle in the center, splitting the pan between the front and the rear.
