Question about '39 Business Coupe

There is a '39 Business Coupe on the 'bay currently. It has a starting price of 6k and BIN of 9k. Am I being a CASO to say that's pretty steep? I mean, the car reputedly runs and so on... Still, if the fellow wants so much, I'd think he'd at least wash it. The thing is filthy.[V]

The question is achedemic as I can't afford the car (even though I'd love to be able to). Below is the link for the auction:

Yes, well... I hope the sign on the wall is just a joke and not a personal statement. It would be a crying shame to see this sweet old car chopped and tarted up.

The car looks pretty solid and for many street rodders that is the main thing. The price of deuce parts and the like are so high they get used to those higher numbers. That's the main reason that I have long wanted, but never owned a street rod.

I do agree that he is high. (yes it is the one word here I spelled right)
It would be a good deal for both parties. at the 6K currently offered though.
Looks to be in relatively good shape but out of the parts that are in good shape not many will be kept with a restore.

Dean, the starting bid is set at 6k. It also says that the, 'reserve is not met,' in the auction. I would say that this fellow wants no less than the BIN, which to my mind, is way out of line. It's sad really, but there it is.[V]

Is it a true '39? The front end looks different than Lark Parker's two '39 Coupes. Is it a LATE '39?

It is way too high for this car. If it was a very good original...maybe, but the car will need some major work to get it roadworthy & presentable.

A late 30's coupe with lines like that will be a prime target for Streetrodding.
Solid coupes like that are rare as hens teeth around here and as much as I think it should be restored to original it will probably end up rodded, hopefully by someone with the skill or the money to do it right.
Only about 40 miles from me but I can't even afford to look.

Lark's coupes are little Champions. This one has more in common with his '39 President.

My thoughts exactly. I get sick of the "it makes me sick to see this car rodded" attitude by most SDCers.

That coupe would make a nice restored car. It'd also make a really cool street rod. Regardless, it's a cool Stude and something should be done with it.
