A lot has been accomplished on the Lark in the past week. Pictures will be coming soon. My digital cam stopped working so waiting for regular film processing. The seller of the car did right by me. He paid for half the cost of the new engine. The following has been accomplished since my last post:
Engine Removed (the oil had a lot of silver color residue in it)
Brakes/metal lines/brake hoses have all been rebuilt/replaced
The engine compartment was stripped and repainted
Picked up the new to me 289/matched bellhousing from Buddymander (was nice to meet you).
Had the VIN verification completed on the car and its now registered.
Picked up all new hoses/belts, points, rotor, condenser, cap.
Radiator was rodded and repainted
Today/this weekend's plan is as follows:
Degrease/paint the new engine
replace freeze plugs
swap oil pans from old to new engine (new one has a dent in bottom)
replace timing cover gasket/front seal
Install new engine
With the 289 vs 259 this car should be a blast to drive.
Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving! I was bummed a bit at the beginning of this project but the thing that stands out to me today is with our club/hobby, we have a lot to be thankful for. There are a lot of good people and if something goes awry with a deal, or a car. I've found that we try to do right by each other. I've not been involved in other car clubs, but I have a feeling that this is unique to our club. BTW, the car has a name now its Lola.
Pictures should be on soon. I'm pretty well buried right now with work. I'll post them as soon as I have time. BTW.. does anyone have the formula for the 62 Metallic Green? That's the next project.
