Getting ready to purchase a new radiator for my 56 wagon. I have been talking to some of the large aftermarket suppliers. All have the same request. That is can I tell them what my rad. looks like and what other studes used the same one. Most have patternes on hand for the sedans but not the wagons. I am trying to save money by not having to box up my old one and send it to them. Does anyone know if the 56 sedan or any other models are the same. Thank you

The radiator from any Lark will fit your wagon. I have a '56 Parkview wagon. The radiator was leaking. I just slipped in one of the ones on hand that have been re-cored. Slid right in and bolted in like the original. You would get points off in a show, because the tank on the '56 is taller. On the other hand, your car is functional. Just tell them that any radiator that fits a Lark will do.

Oh, one more thing. They usually try to sell a radiator with just two rows of lines. Try to get three at least. Four might be a space issue with the fan. Then again, it might not.

Also, my wagon does not have a shroud. If yours does, the Lark radiator will need an appropriate shroud. Yours might not fit.

I'm sorry to say, but my Parkview is too far away to compare with the Commander. When I had the Commander's radiator recored I had them go with four rows. It fits!!!
Now that I think about it, the '65 was done up with four rows as well...

Looks to me that a four row might work in a '56 as well. The Lark is where clearance is an issue. I had a three row that one of my '64 wagons fan used to brush from time to time. It never really damaged the radiator. Just marked it.

By the by, the radiator I put in the Parkview was three row out of a lark. In fact, it's the one with the brush marks.

Thanks, Since I am going to get a new one I want it to look original. That is why I was asking what ones are identical.
My does not have a shroud either. Not sure they ever came with them.

Far as I know, the sedan would have the same radiator as the wagon. I mean, we're talking Studebaker here, not Ford. Then again, my experiance is limited largely to Larks.
