  • Lark going to the crusher

Disassembeled a '62 Lark 4 door today. I was 259 auto. The engine and tranny are long gone. The rear end is a 3.31 Dana 27. Should the rear end go to the crusher with the hulk or do you guys think that maybe someday, someone might have a need for it.

My guess is let it go. Most everybody says they're crap and are always looking for 44s to replace 'em.

In Jerry's first post he says Douglasville, Georgia.

They're the light-duty rear that can't take anything more than gentle use- at least that's what I hear.

Even the 44s didn't come with flanged axles unless you find a 65 or 66.

Jerry, if it was me I would save the axles, because they will be needed by someone, sometime. But that's just me, if you want them gone or need the $1.57 they are worth for scrap...go for it!

I have to differ, had my share of 27s and not one let me down.had a few 44s and no trouble either,so I'd say straight across the board!I've driven them gentle and against the law,and only one was flanged.personally I'm more concerned about ratio than model.

I have found 27's quite useful as a dust magnet, and giant paper weight.

I pulled the windshield and back window to get the stainless for Matthew.
Should I keep them and what other models do they fit?

The windshield moulding fits '61-'62 and the backlite moulding '62 only. No wonder they are out of business large fortune in tooling for different glass and mouldings.

Why keep the 27 axles? they only fit a 27 not much good unless you want to use them for stakes in the ground, scrap every thing about it I got mad yesterday and out went a pair of 44's..can't keep every thing...Bob
