  • fixing my rusty 63 fenders with some 64s?

My 63 Wagonaire has usual rust at the rear edge of the front fenders. I have some 64 fenders that are rust free, but bent up in front from a long-ago fender bender. From the wheel well back, they are fine. Anybody know the best procedure for utilizing these to fix the 63 fenders?

Ray, that looks real good. Did it require any body filler over the seam to hide any warpage or did it not warp from welding? Is that a pnuematic flanging tool being used on the adjoining edge of the patch piece? If so, how much does a tool like that cost?
      Thanks, Brent

Yes, it required filler. Could I have spent 25 hours "metal-finishing" it so it would not need filler... but the owner wouldn't have been very happy with the bill.

It's a cheapie from Northern Tool. Several years ago they were $60.

Just leave yourself a 1 1/2" wide strip along the hood edge from the '63 fender. Because the '64 hood is straight, and the '63 hood is tapered... you need the extra in that area to bridge the gap.
