  • Hole in firewall

I am presently doing an 'air-conditioner delete'on Sarah. As I was snaking the hoses through the firewall (after removing some thick globs of a tar-like substance)I noticed that I had a perfectly round hole, maybe about 2 1/2" in diameter when I was done. For the time being, I covered it up with duct tape CASO-style.I was wondering if there is a Studebaker part number for the plug/plate used to fill in this hole.If not, I can CASO-rig something before the mice get inside the car.Thanks.

Try Plumbing, Heating and Hardware Stores, there should be something there you can use.

Since very few Studebakers had A/C, there never was a factory "hole" for the Refrigerant hoses, so there would be no A/C delete plate.

Mark, I'm in the same situation with my Champ.I'm gonna make a sheetmetal cover, paint both sides and put two screws in it,also use dumdum strip caulk to seal it.

Try a plumber's test plug. Here's a picture of mine to plug up the hole where the clutch pedal would have gone through my firewall. My avanti was an automatic and what ever had plugged the hole for the clutch pedal had fallen out. I found the plumber's test plug to be an inexpensive and effective plug. This picture is with the engine out so its easy to see ...
