I'm working with a friend to install a new headliner in his 63 Hawk GT. I know that to install the headliner in some models, glass must be removed. Is the Hawk GT one of those requiring glass removal? There is no trim around the rear glass and no current headliner. Is there a trim piece missing around the rear glass? Are there supposed to be sail panels, or is the headliner supposed to just hang behind the rear quarter windows with no backing? It would be nice if we hasd the old headliner as a reference, but, no such luck! Thanks for any available guidance.

Hey triple A, check out this link: http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=34297
It basically says that you dont need to remove any glass for installation. I can post pictures here of my raddy old Hawk headliner unless someone else has pics to share.

If you don't remove the front and rear glass it can come loose later as all you can do is cut it short and try to cram it under the rubber and hope you can get some glue in there first, the front has the metal molding so it has a better chance of staying but the rear could and most likely will come out, good luck...Bob

Take out the glass and do it as the factory did. It is easier to do it correctly. jimmijim

Here's a picture of my old GT Hawk headliner. Can someone tell me if I'm missing a headliner bow? It kinda looks like there should be a bow over that rear seam.

Hey Brent, you have the correct amount of bows. That seam remains uncovered.
