  • Studebaker House w/pics

I was at a show this past weekend and found this interesting Studebaker house. The show was in Hilton Head SC. The owner stated that the original owner bought the Studebaker Bus chassis and sent it out west to have the custom house built on the chassis. The owner also stated that it is in its original condition and has not been touch.

It would be interesting to learn what else Advance Auto Body Works did.
Ambulances, hearses, firetrucks, utility bodies, film cars?

I thought that this had been covered in a post in the past couple of weeks, but a search turned up nothing. Perhaps I saw it on the AACA site?

No Gary, you're correct. There was a thread here about it with a link to, I think, the HAMB site. Of course, these photos are better and show the inside - which the other pics didn't.[^]

This thread is MUCH better info than the previous one. Thanks for posting, Studehunter.

The history of this Studebaker goes much deeper than just a custom Studebaker house! As I understand it...the car was commissioned to be built by Harvey Firestone. It was used by him, Henry Ford, and Thomas Edison for weekend "Hunting Retreat Getaways" back in the day. Wouldn't you love to have been around that campfire!

I have a few more photos of it I might try to add later. I asked the owner if they were a memeber of the SDC and she acted like they were but I am not sure if that is so. They might be interested in knowing more of the history of this house if someone would like to contact them. I think you could google the name on the information picture.
