If anyone can help , I need 8 of the small bolts and nut as in the picture I have posted . They are a flat headed bolt about 3/4 in long , they hold on the 4 grill inserts on '66 cars. Any help would be appreciated.

    Bob:
Odd ones, those! The part number for the Daytona and Cruiser is 1093X63G4 and the part number for Commanders and Wagonaires is 1093X63G3, though it's not clear what the difference is. They seem to be 8-32 with a strange head. Even the MrG-USA catalog doesn't show them.

How about some 8-32 threaded rod and you weld on a little rectangular plate with corners ground off?

Bob, I have a great nut and bolt place near me with an inventory that goes back 100 years. Send me an email with exact measurements and bigger pic and I will ask them if you don't have any luck here.

Gary , thanks for the part numbers. I think the only difference would be between them is color, Daytona and Cruisers being black and the Commander and Wagons would be silver.
Thanks Dave , may take you up on that if I can't find the real thing .

The nut is definitely a keps nut - readily available.
The bolt I recognize but the name escapes me.

Bob, I may have some of those, I will look in the barn this weekend, I did find an item on McMaster Carr's website that may work, look @ p/n 98001A115. I don't know if the dimensions match up, but if they do you could put a piece of 8/32 all thread in it, tack weld & grind flat?

                Man, that looks close...

I'd order a box of 8-32x3/4 stainless Allen screws to go with them and tack weld the end(s)...

Zeigler nut and bolt in canton ohio has something similar to the bolt

it is completly round on the head instead of having the two parallel

flat spots. They call them elevator bolts I use them on garage doors

at the places the door contacts the jam. They would be easy to modify

to look the same by cutting the two flats places off the round head

An elevator bolt has a square shoulder - like a carriage bolt. May not matter.

My guess is the screw thread is 10-24. Does the nut have a 3/8" hex? "Normally", hardware used for attaching trim items is coarse thread, and 10-24 gets used a lot on Studebakers.

If you can find some 10-24 carriage bolts, you could grind the heads down to approximate that shape, as long as the square shank on the bolt didn't interfere with mounting the part.

Since the screw is used with a nut, the exact thread doesn't really matter, as long as the nut matches the screw.

If I were faced with this problem, I'd cut a strip of thick sheet metal to the width of the narrow dimension of the screw head, punch holes in it every 1/2" or so, and weld short pieces of 10-24 threaded rod (maybe cut from miscellaneous stove bolts) into the holes. Then cut the strip apart, grind the welds and the corners of the heads smooth, and call 'er done. I could make a dozen such screws in about 15 minutes that way.

I'm sure they will be available through SI sometime in the future. SASCO had litterly hundreds of both styles of the grills there so I'm sure there must be the bolts....just have to maybe wait till they get stuff all organized.

Bob, weren't those $1 a pound at SASCO at the end? I wanted to buy a bunch of that stuff, but just grabbed a few of what I knew I would need some day. So many rare fasteners, amazing.

They probably were , I got a few different types of fasteners but none of those , Probably looked at them and didn't know what they were for so overlooked them .
Now I'll probably have to pay a buck a piece for them [}]

I cant understand why the part numbers are different between the Commander & Daytona/Cruiser grilles since they are basically the same except for the black out paint on the more upscale models. Another reason why Stude used so many different fasteners that was unnessisary & added to cost of production.
