  • T Cab Wheel Covers... Which Style?

Here are the two styles of wheel covers we're considering for the T Cab. Any comments or opinions welcome. And you don't even have to play nice.

Well, a Studebaker expurt once told me that my Champ (made in Australia by the way) has the correct covers. It has the ones on the left, so if you're looking for authenticity.........

I have the 1962-3 style on my '62 T-cab. I think they look better than the '64-5 covers.

I like the earlier covers, they don't draw your eyes to the wheels as much.

Both look good. Let the buyer decide.

If its a 1964 Champ, then I would go with the '64 caps. I agree with John in that they draw your attention, but I think they look good. Or you could leave it as is with the '64 caps on one side and the '63 caps on the other

My vote goes to the 64-65's. They just add to the good looks of that Champ.

I like the late caps because I'm an IH guy. They "borrowed" those caps (without the lazy S of course) for the late '60s-up pickups and I always thought they looked good.

Sorry, when it comes to trucks, I'm a blackwalls guy with hubcaps, not full wheelcovers.

I'm with Mark on this one... definitely [u]hub</u> CAPS.

Of the two wheel cover choices given, however, I'd go for the earlier style (only because it'll leave more '64/5-style discs in the parts pool for me to choose from, down the road )

That would be my choice, and a option for the new owner, but I'm just not sure if the $400 cost for new caps would add that much to the bids over the free full wheel caps.

I too am a fan of black side walls and dog dish style caps, but of the two we have to choose from I like those on the left.

As always it is the driver/owners choice. Here is a picture of my late 61 with Hub caps that soon will be appearing in a Hemmings publication.

With a Studebaker truck, I personally prefer hubcaps.

Don, that truck in GORGEOUS! But did they offer Champs in two-tone like that? Doesn't matter, yours looks just super that way!

Thanks for the compliment Ron, due to cost no they didn't produce this scheme. However they did propose to offer a tu-tone scheme and actually prepared the drawings for it. I saw them in Turning Wheels many years ago and kept them. Once we decided to restore the truck we chose to paint it in the factory authorized, but never used, paint scheme. Being a late 61 production truck it is one of less than about 700 with the space-side box which did not go into production until after 1/23/61. It is just a little old plain-jane turck with Studebaker's new for 61 169.6 overhead valve engine. It is truly fun to drive. It is painted in Suntone Yellow and Parchment White true 61 truck colors.
