  • Supercharger Carb Bonnet options

My 63 R1 Avanti is being converted to an R2 almost R3 specs. The heads are being ported, larger stellite valves and enlarged combustion chamber. Cylinders bored 0.060", hyperteutic pistons, R3 cam and R3 exhaust headers. The supercharger will be a Paxton SN60. If I go with an Edelbrock AFB are their carb hats (bonnet) that can be used on the Edelbrock to connect supercharger outlet hose to the carb. I do not have an original R2 style carb and bonnet so something low enough to fit under hood when shut would work. Chrome carb bonnet with chrome Edelbrock would look real nice.

Any articles or anyone with suggestions for this would be appreciated

I'll be in the garage later and I'll take a height measurement for you...

I think any aftermarket hat will be too high. Most are made to work with Holleys and that tall choke mount requires a tall hat. If the Procharger unit is straight from top to bottom you may be able to cut it.

Bonnet is 2 1/8" from base to highest spot. Mine barely fits under the hood. Carb box will solve any sealing issues you might encounter with the E Carb, although I haven't run into any with my set-up.

I found a procharger bonnet that is 2-1/2" but sounds like it could still be a little high.

Just how much is this bling going to set me back?
