  • Vent Window Seal

Anyone know a source for the strip of felt-like material,
(actually more like "cat whisker" material) that lays in the channel
on the side glass (Drivers side shown), that my Hawk vent windows closes against?

Mine are all but gone and I can't seem to find this stuff
    anywhere.

A local glass shop had some of this stuff with a peel-stick backing. Worked pretty good.

SI calls it "L" shaped liner. For C body Hawks through 1961, part # 800797, $12.50 each.
The ends are secured under bent tabs but I believe the center is secured with rivets while the stainless trim is off the glass.

          Thanks for the info; I used the part # out of the manual, that I thought was correct, and couldn't find it on the SI website;
I called them and they do have the right part.

            Joe,

You can save a bunch by getting peel and stick velcro tape. Just sand off the old fuzzy material and stick on the new. Got mine from the bargain bin at a local parts store ($4 for 3ft).

Good tip, I'm all for saving money where I can (since most of
the time I don't have that option when buying parts); so I'll look
              at the alternatives suggested. Thanks,

Yes, they do use very small brass rivets which must be put on/in when the glass is out of the way.Taking the glass out is a real pain and something that I would avoid if possible. I would try the stick-on stuff first. I had to make a tool to spread the rivets but it worked alright.

perfect picture for a question I have.

I need the window channel that the bottom of the window sits in as well as the little triangle shaped thing (the thing with the blue masking tape on it)that connects the bottom channel to the side channel. For a '55 champion.

                  Anyone?

The glass setting rubber is what Studebaker International calls the strip that goes in the lower channel that the glass sits in, the one that connects to the window regulator. If that is what you mean it is available. But you will have to specify a "C" Body Coupe, 2Dr. or 4 Dr. Sedan or hardtop to get the right part.

I am sure whatever it is you need that has blue masking tape on it, if it is available it will be in their Catalog both the printed copy and the website version.
