  • Hole next to water pump housing

Looking at the front of the engine on the upper right side where the water pump bolts to the engine is a hole just to the left. You can only get to it by removing the water pump housing, very tight behind it. When the engine is running oil comes out this hole.
What goes in this hole, a plug or what?

If you mean the plug which the arrow is pointing to, its the oil gallery port on the front of the head. There's a port on the top and on the end of each head. The passenger side head is just the reverse and the oil gauge line is attached to the top one. On the drivers side, the top plug is where the partial flow oil supply comes from when the filter is on the front of the engine. If that one on the end of the head is leaking, you can use a 1/4" wrench to tighten it up...

There should be a 1/8 inch pipe plug in the hole in the head behind the water manifold. If you're looking at the car from the front, both heads should have a plug in the holes. On the drivers side if the car is equipped with a by-pass oil filter, the upper hole gets the pressure side line to the filter connected to it, other wise it gets plugged. Bud
